RACE CALENDAR 2021

Five races across four continents.

Extreme E is a completely unique motorsport series. It is the first sport built out of concern for the climate crisis. The series’ goal is to use electric racing to highlight remote environments under threat of climate change issues, and to encourage us all to take positive action to protect our planet’s future.

As well as its overall mission, Extreme E is committed to minimising its series footprint wherever possible across its events, logistics and operations, and offset the unavoidable via our local legacy projects.

See the below dates and places for a more detailed look at where we will be racing.

DESERT

Al-'Ula, Saudi Arabia

Extreme E will head to Saudi Arabia, home of the world’s largest continuous sand desert, and its Al-‘Ula region in Season 1. The terrain is stunning and unforgiving, while the heat and conditions will be intense. There is no question that the winning combination of driver and machine will be a deserving one…

OCEAN

Lac Rose, Senegal

Lac Rose in Senegal, on the West Coast of Africa, will host the Ocean X Prix in our inaugural season. The announcement was made during a community beach clean at the proposed race site at Lac Rose – also known as Lake Retba – approximately 30 kilometres from the Senegalese capital, Dakar.

ARCTIC

Kangerlussuaq, Greenland

Extreme E heads to the Arctic and the retreating Russell Glacier near Kangerlussuaq in Greenland during its inaugural campaign, raising awareness of the rate at which ice is melting at the poles by racing on land once occupied by the once-mighty glacier, right by its receding snout.

AMAZON

Pará, Brazil

A damaged region in the Brazilian state of Pará will host the Amazon rainforest X Prix when Season 1 gets underway in 2021.

With more land being cleared for agriculture, cattle grazing, timber and infrastructure, regions once occupied by great rainforests are more susceptible to droughts and forest fires – exacerbated by the extreme weather brought about by climate change. As a result, tropical rainforests are being lost at an alarming and accelerating rate.

Ushuaia is a resort town in Argentina located on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, the southernmost tip of South America, nicknamed the “End of the World.” The windswept town, perched on a steep hill, is surrounded by the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel and is near the spectacular Martial Glacier.
