Rosberg X Racing in commanding position following Jurassic X Prix Qualifying

Dorset, 18 December 2021. Rosberg X Racing qualified in P2 overall on the second day of competitive action at the Jurassic X Prix. Molly Taylor and Johan Kristoffersson drove expertly to secure the team’s place in the Semi-Final and a 15-point championship lead ahead of the final race tomorrow.

RXR delivered a commanding and measured performance to ensure crucial championship points and a slot in Semi-Final 2, which will see them take on Acciona, Sainz XE and ABT Cupra. A clean run was imperative for the team to enter the final day of racing with no damage and a strong position.

Tackling a slippery track that was extremely muddy in places, Johan Kirstoffersson started strong for RXR in Qualifying 1 yesterday, completing the 3.8km course at Bovington Military Ground without error and capitalising on the hyperdrive boost allowed during the Traction Challenge. Taylor then took the wheel, powering through the course with ease. After Q1, the team finished in P2 just 1.9-seconds behind the leaders.

Starting RXR’s second Qualifying session earlier today, Taylor yet again demonstrated her calm determination to safely bring the car around the course - navigating the slippery and uneven conditions before handing over to teammate Kristoffersson. Kristoffersson attacked his final lap of the day, closing the gap to the leaders with an enormous jump and setting the fastest single lap of the day with a time of 2m25.908s. Kristoffersson’s 51.94s Traction Challenge proved too fast for the rest of the pack, allowing RXR to scoop another five championship points as it stands.

Rosberg X Racing driver, Johan Kristoffersson, commented after the Qualifying sessions: “We’re happy with the overall result. P2 is a really strong position going into the Semi-Finals tomorrow and the car feels extremely fast despite such a challenging course. We will review all of our laps to make sure we go into the final day tomorrow completely focussed and ready for what will hopefully be an exciting challenge.”

Molly Taylor, Rosberg X Racing driver, said: “I’m pleased with today’s qualifying. After some bad luck during qualifying in the last two races, to have a clean run this time around was quite a relief. The track is developing and changing the more laps are completed so tomorrow will certainly be difficult but the team is really focussed and we’re happy with the performance so far.”

Kimmo Liimatainen, Rosberg X Racing Team Principal, added: “Today has been successful with P2 overall after both qualifying sessions. Molly and Johan both delivered excellent laps, attacking the course without making any mistakes. The field is extremely close for this race, and the course is slippery and unpredictable. We will analyse where we can improve for tomorrow and stay focussed on the challenge ahead.”
