Neustadt, 15 February 2024 – Following a stellar championship victory, Rosberg X Racing (RXR) is primed for the launch of the 2024 Extreme E season, recently announcing the return of dynamic duo Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky and Johan Kristoffersson. Coming off the back of a triumphant season, RXR is set to defend their title with the team's sights firmly set on the first double-header event of Season 4 in Saudi Arabia this weekend (17-18 February).

The team's remarkable performance last season, which culminated in clinching the championship title for the second time, is a testament to their dominance in the series. Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, with her trailblazing victory in the Extreme E Championship, and Johan Kristoffersson, a six-time World Rallycross Champion, have proven to be an unbeatable pair, propelling RXR to the forefront of electric motorsport.

As the series returns to the stunning deserts of Saudi Arabia, the opening rounds in Jeddah mark a special moment in Extreme E’s history, underpinned by a groundbreaking partnership with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) through the Electric 360 initiative. This collaboration is set to revolutionise electric motorsports, integrating Formula E and E1 alongside Extreme E.

The 2024 season introduces exciting changes to the sporting format, with a focus on increased competition and gender equality. Each X Prix will feature double-header rounds, with four cars per heat and an equal number of starts between male and female drivers throughout the season. Additionally, the introduction of new points allocations for the Redemption Race and adjustments to qualifying rounds are expected to intensify the competition.

Rosberg X Racing is proud to announce SUN Minimeal as their principal partner for the 2024 season, alongside the renewal of partnerships with Allianz, HRX, and Eagle Creek, and the return of Sunreef Yachts and Ravenol as key partners.

The legacy programme for the Desert X Prix is dedicated to Coral Protection, emphasising the importance of conserving coral reefs for biodiversity, human livelihoods, and the protection of low-lying island states. Extreme E is committed to this cause, partnering with leading organisations to advance research and restoration efforts in the fight against climate change.

As the teams prepare to tackle the challenging terrain of Saudi Arabia, the course details remain a crucial element of the strategy for victory. The newly unveiled Jeddah course for the 2024 Desert X Prix promises a thrilling mix of high-speed runs, technical turns, and spectacular jumps, challenging drivers with its unique dunes and sandy terrain, making it an electrifying start to the Extreme E Season 4.

Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky commented: "I’m super happy to be returning to Saudi Arabia for the Extreme E season opener. Last year's championship victory was a milestone, but this season, we plan on pushing harder than ever. The new course and sporting format changes present a fresh challenge, but I believe in our team's ability to adapt and excel.”

Johan Kristoffersson said: “The modifications to the course and the competitive format mean that every decision, every second, counts more than ever. Our victory last season has set a high bar, but together with Mikaela and the whole RXR team, I feel we're ready for another great season.”

Stay tuned as RXR aims to defend their title and continue pushing the boundaries of electric racing.
